Not too much in the way of specifics to report at this time. But here are some plans for the near future:

- New full length dark ambient album should be coming out early 2012. More info on this soon!

- Emme Ya / Worms of the Earth split to be released early 2012 via Kalpamantra. Style is dark ambient with a theme of Sumerian mythology. This will be a free release :). Emme Ya recently released his debut full length (style is dark ambient/tribal) on Cold Spring which is very good and should not be missed. You can also hear his music on many compilations, including the recent Saur Maas from Kalpamantra.

- Working a new full length "rhythmic noise" album to follow up Lesser Ophidian Gate; I have 10 working tracks and will write probably 1 more. My plan is to have these tracks ready to send out to labels by the end of the year.

I recorded another DJ set for Xiled Radio - Show 90. More atmospheric dark ambient.

In somewhat related news, I am reviving an old project I did in '06-'08 called Ghosts in the Clocktower. This was a short lived outlet for writing outer space themed dark ambient and IDM. I never achieved what I wanted to with it, and ended up shelving it due to lack of time. I had always intended for that project to function as a collaborative endeavor, and I have finally found a second individual who shares the same vision and passion for this type of music. We have begin working together recently and the first new GITC song in 4 years will appear on the forthcoming Wounds of the Earth compilation, due out this winter, and hopefully more material to come beyond that.

I will also have a track featured on a forthcoming compilation with a very long title on the new US label Signifier. This is going to be a very sick compilation of rhythmic noise and IDM. The previews of it sound great. It drops on august 30 and you can preorder it now for only 14$ ! It will feature acts such as Zero Degree, LAN Formatique, Tonikom, Millipede, Tzolk'in, Oil 10, Lingouf, Greyhound, WASTE and more.

I am currently working on a new project, to be unveiled fairly soon. There is still much left to be said with Worms, and there will be news of a new album quite soon.

I will be performing at a private show outside of washington,dc on July 8. This is a ritual/ambient show and I will be performing the forthcoming album more or less in it's entirety. I may do more shows of this type should there be a demand.

Two new local shows announced, baltimore june 22 and outside DC july 8, details for the latter to be announced shortly. Info on the shows page. Working on something else for later in the summer and will hopefully do some more shows in the fall/winter to support the new material.

Speaking of, the new full length album is very close to being finished. Another week or two probably and then it will go to mastering. Hopefully there will be lots of info on that shortly.

A few compilation appearances are also in the works, hopefully to materialize later in the year.

There are a bunch of releases in the works, to be released this year, which will feature Worms of the Earth tracks. So far, these have been released:

Wounds of the Earth Compilation III (Wounds of the Earth)
This is a huge free digital compilation released by the Wounds of the Earth zine. Part I features 12 IDM tracks and Part II features 14 dark ambient tracks. For this I did a track called Mul Aš-iku which is a space influenced IDM/ambient piece. This compilation features predominately exclusive tracks from acts such as c.db.sn, access to arasaka, candle nine, SE & daniel tompkins of century media act TesseracT, famine, enabl.ed, lucidstatic, false mirror, therradaemon (aka northaunt), svartsinn, phaenon, roto visage, tPRoE, dead man's hill, and a ton more. Despite the fact that I put this together, I can say without bias that this is a must have for fans of IDM and Dark Ambient.

The Carapace - "Interpretations In Time" (Force of Nature Productions)
The Carapace is the new emotive and atmospheric IDM project from Josh Colella of Scrap.edx. This is the free digital remix EP which serves as a precursor to the coming full length. Despite the possible connotations of a free remix album, this is actually a very solid release; the original tracks are excellent (definitely a must hear for fans of n5md type idm) and the remixes are all genuinely well done.

In the next few months expect to see Worms appear on releases from Bugs Crawling Out Of People, the bright new US industrial noise/ambient label Signifier, and a few others.

Currently I am working hard on a rhythmic noise/idm full length and a dark ambient full length. More details to come, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Laptop died before the albany show (most likely the motherboard is fubar from previous constant overheating issues), though with the help of Andrew from Doomsday Virus we were able to pull the relevant files off the harddrive, compile various parts in pro tools, reload software, and reconfigure midi controllers on his laptop...and despite all of the aforementioned, the show actually went amazingly. Great crowd, solid venue. Many thanks to everyone involved.

Unfortunately, my laptop is still dead, though the good news is that in the context of Worms, I only use it for playing live, so it won't affect production of new material. However, it is a big pain in the ass, and I'm now tasked with buying a new one this week since I need it for real life stuff. Apparently they don't manufacture them with firewire (1394) ports anymore, which is really awesome since ALL my soundcards rely solely on that protocol. So, I'll probably have to sell the Mackie Onyx Satellite and buy something usb friendly...which sorta means no shows for a while until I can get all this shit back in order. Argh.

On the upside: before my laptop crashed, in my assuming that there would be no large bills in the future, I decided to buy a Kurzweil PC2R as sort of an upgrade / compliment to the Korg Trinity TR. The PC2R is, similarly, a ROMpler focused on top notch piano and orchestral sounds. The Trinity is a great machine, but it sounds dated as shit...so I've been looking for something with more accurate sounding pianos, strings, choirs, etc. I'm really excited to use this in the ambient stuff I have been working on. More on that soon...maybe...

Right now, it's mainly just waiting on the various labels to finish up production on various releases. More information when I get it. Hopefully there will be at least 1 full length Worms album this year. I have lots in progress, but time will tell which ideas come to bear fruit.

"Worms of the Earth’s Dan Barret is back to demonstrate his genius once again with skull-crushing rhythmic precision and engulfing soundscapes that will leave you with mental images lingering into the night of unholy rites. “The Lesser Ophidian Gate” is a 4-track EP with two bonus tracks featuring a remix by Vicious Alliance. The first four songs flow like a concept album followed by a brief intermission and a menacing “Untitled (Trapped in Bardo)” and an EBM influenced mix of “And I’ve Become The Demon” to close out the release.
The first song, “To Dawn The Visage Of The Serpent”, sets the stage for this menacing album with an atmosphere that groans as it gives birth to metallic percussions. The beat changes and plunges in the blink of an eye to hard distorted pounding and lulling melodic intermissions amidst the throb. “Traversing The Saurian Abyss” slows the tempo for an introduction again to drones and slithering effects before bashing your face in with rapid fire drums ridden by high strings – this song only stops in time to pull back its fist and catch its breath before continuing the assault. “Passing through The Deep” startles the listener with its melody and demonstration of space amidst the sounds of water and a woman’s moans. Don’t be fooled, this is just a precursor to the foot-tapping beats and female harmony that glides in direct contrast to the scraping raw snares. “Ajina (Viewing The Bodiless Realm)” is an IDM nightmare come true with a two minute intro reminiscent of Dead Voices On Air. The body of the song is a display in Dan’s versatility with this project, flowing from rhythmic noise to light melodies over complex rhythms and perfect transitions. The untitled intermission lingers for a mere twenty seconds before bringing on the bittersweet “Untitled (Trapped in Bardo)” which is a crescendo of remorse and frustration that is by far my pick from the album. The closing song, a remix of “And I’ve Become The Demon” by Vicious Alliance seems out of place on this release, trading the suspense for club anthem synths and distorted vocals; it is almost like what you hear after seeing a great horror film while scanning the credits, it is a well done remix but seems like it would fit better on a more dancefloor oriented album versus the prior hour of intelligent atmospheres. All in all, I highly suggest this release to any fan of rhythmic noise, dark ambient and simply great production.

From an "official" standpoint, The Lesser Ophidian Gate is the sophomore release from Baltimore's Dan Barrett, a.k.a. Worms of The Earth. Barrett's first label-backed album was a striking curiosity titled The Angels Of Prostitution released by Canada's Bugs Crawling Out Of People in 2008. It featured imaginative rhythmic noise coupled by ambient leanings geared more toward darker tastes with a definitive nod aimed at fans of the fiction stemming from H.P. Lovecraft's reign as godfather of horrific exploitation in early twentieth century literary pulp. Yet the material was difficult to dismiss as genre-specific absurdity considering how Barrett lent a steady and unrelentingly imaginative hand to sounds well tread, making Angels one of the more surprisingly satisfying treats his new label had to offer. WOTE is, quite simply stated, one of the best acts with which you are as of yet entirely unfamiliar. The time has come to rectify this unfortunate situation.
This is a six track "EP," essentially, featuring four new songs (representing the four keys to the gate) and two remixes. "To Dawn The Visage Of The Serpent" is a sprawling eight and a half minutes of brooding atmosphere and cutting electronics. Cavernous atmosphere is interrupted by a spare, near-tribal intro rhythm that is ultimately fed through an abattoir of scissoring sounds and eerie melody. In the hands of most a track this lengthy would be a wasteful enterprise bereft of the creativity to justify such an investment of time. Barrett managed to keep you interested, however, through subtle variances and well-programmed rhythmic interplay all the way through. He follows up that arresting performance with "Traversing The Saurian Abyss," a glitchy and much more aggressive number with some nightmarish vocal, synth and percussive layering that will test the limits of your auditory capabilities.
From there WOTE takes a decidedly more ambient turn with "Passing Through The Deep," featuring a ghostly female voice and a more traditional, pulsing beat pattern with skittering distortion over the top. Finally, "Anja (Viewing The Bodiless Realm)," has more in common with Dark Electro than Rhythmic Noise, showcasing a sprawling, atmospheric passage with spare percussive elements, reminiscent of acts like dISHARMONY. Blending brooding melody with lush synth and doses of punctuating glitch it's structured in such a way as to seem less like a movement and more of a journey through regions not well-traveled.
An extended remix of "Untitled (Trapped In Bardo)" unfolds over the course of nearly nine minutes. While a moderately interesting piece it's the one instance where brevity might have been the wiser course of action even though the garish, near-epic build toward the end is ultimately satisfying. The Vicious Alliance remix of "And I've Become The Demon" makes for a jarring juxtaposition from the preceding track. This is just standard Terrorbanana fare which might find a home in the clubs but detracts from the grandeur of the rest of the material presented in this collection. With a running time of nearly 45 minutes The Lesser Ophidian Gate offers more than just a quick dose of the artist to tide you over until the next release. There is plenty here to digest. You should take a chance on this always intriguing project as it consistently delivers plenty of interesting rewards.

Post-industrial/IDM stuff mainly with some rhythmic noise, illbient and what have you in there as well. features SE, Displacer, AZ-Rotator, Lucidstatic, Vicious Alliance, Ad-ver-sary (Asche remix), It-clings f/ Pneumatic Detach and more. My exclusive track "Niryaana" is on it.

IDMforums - Between The Silence & Story : another free digital comp, this one is from the IDMforums. It's mostly IDM, electro and dub type stuff. My exclusive track "Arupadhatu" is on it.

I've played a couple of shows this year; not much of note save for playing with Iszoloscope and Ad-ver-sary at Orpheus in baltimore. That was an amazing show and I wish more rhythmic noise acts had the opportunity to tour. I played digital ferret record store in philly last weekend with Vicious Alliance which was a great time. As such, I am working on booking some stuff with the VA later in the year.

Lastly (i guess), I am working on a couple more tracks for compilations. One is a brand new song which is about 75% finished. An edited version of it will hopefully appear on a new Bugs Crawling Out Of People comp. I also did a track for the forthcoming it-clings album, which should be out later this year. From what I've heard, it has an amazing line up of bands on it. A couple more things in the works too, but don't want to be too hasty in talking about them...

EP is almost finished, just one intro left to flesh out and perhaps a bit more mixing on that track. Then waiting for remixes and then mastering. Have to fix up the art a bit too.

Doing a couple of other things: New collab w/ It-Clings for his forthcoming album and a remix of my friends The Consolation Wars who sound like The Postal Service but with female vocals; that should be strange and interesting.

I bought a Prophet 08 for my xmas present. I got this mainly to replace the mopho. I love the sound of the Mopho the but editing is tedious and annoys me and I really never bother to get in depth with editing due to the tediousness. I found a really good deal on the full keyboard version of the prophet 08, so I figured why the hell not. I am hoping that it's interface will inspire me to actually use all of the features it holds, and of course add some interesting authentic analog textures to my tracks. After using the Mopho, I realized that analog bass is the only way to go.

I've got some plans for several thing that I would like to create in 2010 and I hope that I am able to accomplish many, if not all, of them.

Ugh. Been sick for days. Haven't gotten anything accomplished. Not going to get to use my main computer for a bit due to holiday-related things. In the meantime I'm going to try an experiment; only use my laptop w/ ableton, reaktor, various free drum samples and a couple of misc plug-ins that i've got installed on there to write some tracks. I will be ultra-limited, but this should help me focus. I am hoping for some melodic ambient/idm, but who knows.

Sort of achieved my goal of working on a lot of music last week into this week. I spent a lot of time on stuff, but I'm only slightly closer to finishing the EP. I started working on a dark ambient track unintentionally while fiddling with absynth...then I rationalized working on it and said it is 'in case one of the remixes doesn't come through'. I've been using Absynth a lot lately; my newest fascination is to load up field samples into the oscillators and turn them into a pad/drone. The track I'm working on now is mostly composed from this technique using sampled, effected and time-stretched water. I've finally been using the Roland SP606 sampler too. I got around to loading my own samples onto it via USB; it was pretty easy although somewhat time consuming (had to convert everything to 16bit) and it crashed my computer twice. But after messing with some tribal hits I loaded into the sampler (the files were 32bit, reduced to 16 for the sampler) and re-recording them, I know why people hype up samplers so much. The post-sampler hits w/ only some reverb, compressor and "enhancer", run through the SPL Charisma 2, sound so much bigger and punchier than the original digital files, no matter how much I process them. They really cut through the mix which is something I was struggling with just using software. I will definitely be using this thing a lot in the future. It's got a lot of really cool and useful effects, and it's very easy to use, although a bit time consuming to set up (for instance you have to assign each sample to a pad individually, then hit enter and wait for it to process before you can assign the next one) .
So anyway, song 4 for the EP turned into some sort of gridlock-esque noise/ambient/idm type deal. It's got the most synth work of any track I've written in a long time; a few pads, some melody, some filtery modulating shit, some random squelches and rises. I wrote a lot of it on the virus snow and layered some of the pads with absynth, and I used the Pro53 for some weird noises and stuff. The drums are not finished yet, but are pretty cool so far. The beat sounds like it has a lot of dubstep influence because it's got that shuffle feel giving it groove...which was unintentional but it sounds cool. It's also got tons of stuff going through grainshifters and filters to give it a beepy / futuristic tone. Tons of beeps and clicks and weird little subtle shit. I also finally figured out how to run signal out of the computer, through effects, and back into the PC without tons of terrible feedback and chaos. So, I ran some of the distorted hits out through the SE70's analog distortion to give them more punch. I sort of ran out of ideas at that point so I am putting the track aside for a few days until I can figure out what it needs to really give it...life.
In the meantime, I started checking out a bunch of user-made plugins for Reaktor, and although I am generally impressed with their GUI and architecture, I really can't say that too many are particularly useful. I tried out a bunch of effects whose claim to fame is a large number of "randomizers", which sounds like a good idea, but it really didn't sound that good in practice. There are two I'm still interesting in trying though; one is a weird drum sequencer with a lot of modulation options, and the other one is a "simple" grain shifter which I believe can make cool drones if configured correctly. We'll see.
I also starting playing with a demo of Ableton 8 to see if I could really use it in a production setting. I am intrigued by a lot of the flexibility and the intuitive design, but in a lot of ways it's really a hindrance to my workflow. The biggest thing is the cramped workspace, especially on my laptop screen. With Cubase, everything is in a separate window; you have a separate mixer and a separate piano roll and effects are in their own windows...etc. In Ableton it's all crammed into the same space. So if I want to see more of the piano roll I have to re-size it and thusly cover up some of the sequencer. Mostly a lot of things are too small, and although they can be resized, they have to compete with everything else for space. I'll test it out more, but it's starting to make me think that I should just upgrade to Cubase 5 instead, mostly because I am so familiar with cubase already...

Ok, this week my goal is to do nothing but write music. 3 songs for the ep are "almost done". 1 is still being written (and re-written) but is coming along. I need to check back on the remixes. There should be 2, and they are from artists whose work I really admire and I expect they will do something meaningful to the tracks. Artwork is coming along. Did a brief photoshoot over the weekend so I might have a promo shot or two for a change. label is confirmed. looking into getting a new logo done. just need to finish more stuff and then wait for more stuff.

I saw Skinny Puppy live the other week. It was awesome, which goes without saying. It inspired me to work on a better live show. Better than a guy or two guys and a laptop. Slightly better at least. I've been thinking about it, but it feels like "might as well be now or never". I will work on putting that together. Maybe by the time the next full length is out I will have a better show. hopefully.

Still making very slow progress on the EP. I can't believe it takes me this fucking long to write music now. I have 2 songs which are done...I think...and 2 more that need varying degrees of writing and mixing. The mixing process is tedious and annoying; even when I think a song is done, I will listen to it up next to Iszoloscope or whomever and it sounds like shit in comparison. The worst is if I compare it to something like Deadmau5...then I really want to throw in the towel. So in summary: fuck writing music. I can't figure out what the problem (e.g. how to sound better / thicker / fuller) is, nor how to correct it. I am tempted to say it has something to do with my version of Cubase SX3 because all my equipment is solid, yet it's still not sounding huge and awesome. Planning to get Ableton 8 very soon though, so we'll see if there is any difference in sound quality.
The SPL Charisma 2 came in and I used it briefly with the Machinedrum->SE70 and on bass from the Mopho. I'm hestitant to say that it sucks, but that is kind of my initial impression. Well it doesn't suck, but moreso perhaps it was not worth the price. I read a review that "it is just a high priced distortion unit" and that is proving somewhat true. I haven't really used it in depth (there are only two knobs on it, so how in depth can you really get?), so I suppose time will tell how useful it really is. I mean, it makes stuff sound noticably LOUDER, but I'm not sure as to how much BETTER it sounds. I'll have to experiment with it more and see how it does in different applications.

I just finished up a remix for A Field Of Black Orchids which I think is going to be on his forthcoming album. It's my usual: pointless long ambient intro, noisey shit, interlude, different noisey shit, unecessary ambient outro.
Possibly will be doing a few more remixes in the "futur". I really just want to finish the EP and get it out there and play shows or do whatever you do after you release something. Drink champagne in the lambo with the top down and the doors open I guess.

So it's been a month and I still haven't done anything notable. I haven't been very inspired lately; some combination of lack of external stimuli and the boredom of using the same processes over and over...which I am finding increasingly stale and lifeless. I guess I am getting tired of 100% digital production; the line between clicking my mouse at work and clicking it in the studio is starting to blur, if you know what i mean. I bought some new hardware which I hope will revitalize me a bit. I don't have any hardware effects so I bought a Boss SE70. It's got analog distortion apparently, so I am curious to see what running the Machinedrum though it would sound like. It probably won't be power-noise-central which I'm kind of hoping for, but we'll see. I am really curious about outboard gear, so after a bunch of research I decided to get an SPL Charisma 2. It looks simple but efficient. I'm going to try to run digital stuff (VSTs, drums) out of the box through the Charisma which will hopefully give them some life and warmth. Also curious to see if it has any effect on hardware synths, maybe not the Virus (though it actually might, since it's VA), but probably will make the Trinity sound "bigger". If the Charisma actually makes a difference I have some other gear that I am curious to try out...perhaps a valve EQ and something like the SPL Vitalizer...you know, tubes n shit.
I must be ADD as hell; every update I make is about I'm making some new genre of music. heh. I don't really think any of the dubstep I made is hot shit; it is mediocre and sort of cool sounding but with generally blah production. So fuck it, it's not worth releasing into the sea of other mediocre dubstep. I started writing rhythmic noise again which is fun and angry, but I'm still bored with the genre and find it difficult to find the inspiration to write it. I heard some Geistform the other day which was pretty cool, he did his album using all analog gear, and it revitalized power noise for me a little bit. Been listening to Orphx too, I dig that sort of hypnotic dubby noise sound. I can't pinpoint what is killing production for me, but I think that I'm just bored with my shitty drum libraries [and I find that Battery inhibits my workflow, so I'm not really using it at this time]. I'm going to get together with Mic Litter again soon and work on making/sampling our own drum library. Lots of found sounds, pipes, metal, noise...all that industrial shit. I think if we sample stuff into his Roland pads (forget the model), we can build some initally big and mean drum sounds, which I can sample into Cubase and then tweak them a but more for a cleaner more, uh, "produced" sound (e.g. so they fit into a mix more seemlessly). I want that dark old school sound from when terror ebm was still using hardware drum machines, except with better production on the mix as a whole. speaking of which, I might be getting involved with a terror ebm project in the future. If that is the case than I want to be legit about it. Mostly hardware stuff: the se70 on vocals, lots of custom drum hits, mostly hardware synths, and lots of field samples and sampled atmospheres from weird creepy locations. If it happens, my goal would be to make something like mindstrip-era suicide commando + raison d'etre. There are some ideas floating around which I am actually pretty excited about. But more info on that as it happens.

Haven't done a whole lot in the last month, been busy with real life shit I guess. Still on the verge on finishing up a new dubstep EP...every time I think it's done and go back for a final listen I find more things that I could probably change or make better or whatever. So I don't know, will probably still work on that for a while. But I did manage to create some artwork for it that I'm pretty happy with; a cover a back page and a few inner pages, just need to add text and so forth. It's going to be a free digital release but I absolutely want to release all the artwork along with it, since I view the packaging (in whatever form it may come in) as an integral part of the "album" as a whole. I'd like to include more bonuses too, just to capitalize on the medium of digital files, but I don't think I will have time to prepare anything extra.

Working on some other stuff for another dubstep type EP as well, but nothing to share about that yet...

Only other notable thing I did was to start a long overdue remix for my breakcore pal Gross Prophet. I am a big advocate for hardware synths, but I decided to do this one using only synths from Komplete 5 and I think it may have been a brilliant idea. I was blown away by some of the stuff I was able to make in FM8, and the sound quality is so so so much better than when I was using software 2-3+ years ago. Anyway I had no real direction for the remix at first, except that I wanted to do something different in order to clear my head from shit (not sure about the correlation there but whatever), and it ended up sounding like LTJ Bukem or old Photek. Probably the last style of music I'd ever though I'd write but I am really into this mix so far and I'm curious to see where it will end up. more later

Hum, I should have had some new stuff finished by now but too many obstacles in the way. Still waiting to hear back about some mastering and label stuff. I have some tracks that are like 95% done but I can't get motivated to just get in there and get the last 5% done. Nothing really catalystic is going on; work is really slow and boring, no women have broken up with me, i didn't lose all my money in a ponzie scheme, i didn't find out i suddenly have cancer, etc. Oh well. I've been doing some dark ambient stuff here and there. Or i'll open up one of my new noise songs, listen to it 4 times and then close it and do something else. I'm supposed to be doing vocals in a project with Famine but I haven't written lyrics in forever so it's taking equally forever to write anything. I like to think that I will put in work this weekend and get something done but I probably won't.

After constant pressure from certain third parties, and the fact that the two above songs surpassed my expectations of my own ability to write noisey stuff, I have decided to write another rhythmic noise album! I have begun work on it this weekend. I have a few old tracks which I started writing directly after The Angels of Prostitution and I will see about salvaging one or two of the better ones, then I'll write 6 or 7 new ones. Probably one vocal track as well... maybe two... and they will have guest vocalists along with my own vocals. Expect this album to be in the vein of "song of the saw", that is to say the songs will all be long, exceedingly dark and "epic" with lots of sections and parts and breakdowns and glitchy shit and pads and etc. Probably will be a concept album in the same way TAOP was. My goal right now is to have it be 2CD and the second cd will be dark ritual ambient remixes (or at least a free digital second 'disk'). All that is in my head currently, but time will how and what manifests. more later

So I feel like I'm about to cross over (back to) the dark side: I just bought Komplete 5 which includes all those award-winning softsynths. I am primarily using hardware synths because I think they sound better, and the hands on aspect is nice (of course I could get a MIDI controller but...) but after this purchase I may start to use more softsynths in my tracks and thus end up sounding like every other producer ever. It will be a fine line to walk, but I am moderately confident that I can use these tools only for good and not for evil. But I promise I will never write a shitty albino lfo-synced bassline. Also, I might in theory be able to build my own shit in Reaktor which would make me a little more respectable.

In other more important news, the new EP is almost finished and is in the process of being mastered. I still gots to finish one track, but it will be a sick track. It will be free download available in mp3 and lossless format (wav or flac) and it will include a bunch of artwork and fun stuff. More info and label and all that shit when more is solidified.

I'm finishing up my two collaborations with Savage Ideal (aka Christian Wright, ex-Bajskorv) for his forthcoming album. One is called "To Spike the Slabs of Eternity" and is available for preview on his myspace. The second track should be finished up by tonight. These tracks mark my return to epic power noise, both being 7 minutes or so long with lots of complex noisey face-eating beats with breakcore & idm influence. Probably some of the most complex tracks I have ever written and quite possibly the best. More info on his album when it drops.

In this section I will speak on the meanings of some things and the purpose behind the symbols I use in this project.

Firstly, the name: Worms of the Earth
I chose this name because it alludes to several things. On a very physical level I take it to be something of a description of humans destroying the planet, like the worm in an apple. On a more abstract level, it is a term describing an advanced race of reptilian beings that supposedly came to this earth eons ago (aka nephilim, annunakai, the watchers, the gods of ancient sumeria/babylonia, etc), whom allegedly created modern man and would later go on to inhabit the hollow earth [in one branch of the hollow earth theory]. There is a book with the same name, and ironically, although I did not know of this book when I decided upon the name, it seems to be in line with these ideas.

The two symbols I use live are the following:

This is a map of the chakras; this particular style is called "ascent of the kundalini". The kundalini is a hidden, coiled energy that lies at the base of the spine, typically portrayed as a serpent. In kundalini awakening, this force rises from the bottom-most chakra "muladhara" up through the spine to the crown chakra "sahasrara". The purpose of kundalini awakening is to reach self-awareness, attaining divine knowledge, etc. The Lesser Ophidian Gate is based on this concept.

The other banner contains the sigil of Lucifer the adversary. This is also the sigil of Enki, the great architect god of the sumerians. The importance of Enki is that he was the scientist/god who lead the work to crossbreed alien DNA with the primitive humans, leading to modern man, and bestowing 'divine' wisdom upon them. The purpose of using the Lucifer sigil is similar; to invoke or awaken the strength and wisdom of the adversary within oneself to transcend the normal confines of low level consciousness and to break the chains of judeo-christian enslavement. To rebel against the weakness, thoughtlessness, and sycophantic nature that plagues man. To unlock the full potential of oneself.

The Lesser Ophidian Gate

There are two levels of The Lesser Ophidian Gate. On one hand it is a term for the first 'gate' protecting the entrance to the serpent cities in the hollow earth. On the other hand it is the gateway to awakening the kundalini energy (the coiled serpent). The four tracks of the EP are the four keys to opening the gate. It begins on the lowest chakra with Earth and ascends through Fire, Water, and finally Air/Spirit as you awaken Ajna (loosely 'third eye', what is used to view higher planes).

The Angels of Prostitution

This term comes from kabbalic mysticism. Basically the meaning of this term is metaphysical forces that impede the progress of man (aka the succubus, the witch, the whore, etc.). The Angels of Prostitution are, 'literally', Lillith and her succubi cohorts. I wrote this album as sort of a study, or response, to help myself understand these forces.

So, here it is, the otherworldly dark ambient/drone split album between me and visionary dark ambient producer Roto Visage. 3 tracks of epic mind-bending drone. On my track there is a fairly extensive use of Binaural Beats. OK so what the hell is that? Basically when you play a separate tone in each stereo channel (i.e. right and left, in ya headphones) and the tones differ slightly (5-10hz), the brain percieves this as a single "beating" tone. So that's all well and good, but the point is that this tone can subtley influence brain activity. What is influenced is based on the frequency of the tone. This technique can be used to trigger effects like euphoria, aniexty, fear, etc. So I won't go into more detail about the specifics that I used, but in any case throw your headphones on, go outside, turn this up as loud as you feel like and see what happens...

This continues throughout the Vivartakalpa until all the worlds are filled from the Brahmaloka down to Naraka. During the Vivartakalpa the first humans appear; they are not like present-day humans, but are beings shining in their own light, capable of moving through the air without mechanical aid, living for a very long time, and not requiring sustenance; they are more like a type of lower deity than present-day humans are.

So, I don't feel like buying more webhosting space and having to deal with FTP to upload all my webpages and so forth. I do enjoy building webpages, however my mastery of the art/technology is so fucking outdated, not to mention I suck at graphics and flash/java, that my website would be miserably subpar. So instead you get a blog, which sucks to look at it but is so fucking easy for me to update that I might actually do it. I'm working on adding all the important infos back on the site, and then maybe trying to create a layout that looks mediocre. More news later
